learn something new everyday - august 2011

8.31.2011:  Create a spending chart for MMM because Nielsen gets all the data from all different places, and it isn't necessarily right.
8.30.2011:  People take things very literally.  Keep it simple, especially iMedia.
8.29.2011:  Be patient Allison.  Take things at face value.  Yes, actions speak louder than words, but sometimes you don't know what's driving those actions.
8.28.2011:  Divide up the work when taking care of your parents.  We can't do it alone in the first place, but it also builds your relationships with your siblings.
8.27.2011:  ICUs should be on the first floor emergencies, e.g. fires, earthquakes.
8.26.2011:  Managing up is not my game.  It is something I am committed to learning to do well, but it will never be a game to me.
8.25.2011:  When presenting in front of 100+ people, you better leave out your "ums."  Charmin showed up really well today.
8.24.2011:  Always help out your team.  It'll always repay itself, especially with good people.  David is for sure one of my favorite ABMs.
8.23.2011:  Nielsen Answers for Desktop is a lot like Nitro.  Why don't they teach us that first?!
8.22.2011:  20% of pregnancies end in miscarriages.
8.21.2011:  I always thought that I couldn't sit still at all.  But then I realized maybe that I can't sit still in my home, where something always needs to get done.  Today I realized that I think it's just that I can't sit still when I'm alone.
8.20.2011:  Angler fish reproduce by a male fusing itself to a female, the female absorbing all of its organs except for its balls, which remain on the outside of the female and produce sperm for her to become pregnant.  http://theoatmeal.com/comics/angler
8.19.2011:  For many, its worth it to find someone who adores you and will do anything for you.  For me, that's not enough.  I want to adore them equally.
8.18.2011:  A baby's heart is supposed to beat 100+ bpm at 6 weeks.
8.17.2011:  Tailor your deck so your AEs can pull directly from it.
8.16.2011:  Take it slow.  There's no rush.
8.15.2011:  Why not? There's nothing to lose.
8.14.2011:  The top 1% income earners in the United States pay more taxes in totality than the bottom 75% of income earners.
8.13.2011:  Everyone has rough days.  Everyone needs time to wind down alone.  But what really matters is whether you can get through it together.
8.12.2011:  Burning copper turns flames green.
8.11.2011:  I'd much rather actually do the work, i.e. paint, than organize the event.
8.10.2011:  Value, value, value. Value will always win.  Even if it erodes a great idea.  Oh P&G.  "I'm on a horse" talks nothing of value.  Great ideas win big in real life.  Value wins in testing, and a little in real life.
8.9.2011:  The best way to address an issue that affects the entire team is with the team together.  And people always see through it.
8.8.2011:  If only managers realized that if they were supportive and inspirational, they could get their people to do absolutely anything.
8.7.2011:  People who are acutely aware of their surroundings almost always had to raise themselves growing up.
8.6.2011:  Solder is actually a metal that can be melted, not a process or a tool.
8.5.2011:  Well, our country's debt got downgraded to an AA+, coincidence that we just raised our debt ceiling?  I don't think so.  And if our Treasury is dumb enough to hand in financials with a $2 trillion error, we probably should be downgraded anyways.  Here we come Europe.  We're catching up to you quick.
8.4.2011:  Keep it simple stupid.  In everything.  Especially with the GM.
8.3.2011:  Kids are like watching your heart beating walking around you.
8.2.2011:  I finally understand the impact of image.  I kicked ass today.  Keep it up, Yang.
8.1.2011:  Always do a final run through with my Marketing Director before a gate.  Yes, actually helpful.
